From Malacca, it takes 4-5 hours by bus to Singapore.
So, are the rumors true? Honestly, if I didn't know, I don't think I would've noticed that it's particularly clean.
...but you know what is clean in the weirdest way? Chinatown.
It even smells good, haha, isn't that weird?
Chinatown. That's the nicest Chinatown I've seen so far...but sadly, this place has no character.
Arab Street. It feels so different to be get out of the big malls of Orchard Road to come here on these little streets where we forget that we're in Singapore. There are many middle-eastern restaurants and shops selling funky items.
I saw that $1 billion Gardens by the Bay on a map so I went there. It's such a weird place with all kinds of vegetation presented in a very bland way. I was a little disappointed, maybe because it doesn't really interest me...and I expected to see flowers?
I was so tired after walking around that garden and I desperately needed aircon, so I went to the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands which is nearby. I've never seen such a stylish shopping mall; it's awesome. There's a casino, museums, shows, theaters, bars, restaurants and amazing views. There's even a little waterway in the mall, and people can go for a little boat ride. I'm one of those girls that don't like shopping but, that one was really fun. I was going "Waw, what the fuck!" in my head the whole time.
Singapore Business district.
:)
Marina Bay light show. It was nice and it was free. The storyline is poor, but it's free...so can't complain. I've never seen anything like this either.
The place where I'm staying at now is in Little India, and I have to walk through the whole place to get here. Tonight, as I was walking back...there were so many Indians sitting on the streets, drinking, talking on the phone. What's fun is that it felt like I was in India, except that no one is giving me weird looks for being non-Indian, because we're still in Singapore.
Overall, Singapore was okay. It's not the funnest place, but it was good to be here to enjoy the city life for a bit and Singaporeans' favorite pastime; eating and shopping. I enjoyed shopping for the first time, and Laksa is so yummy!
