I never met any mean people in China except one...and I took a picture of him. He is just so rude to me and I don't even know why! Probably because I look like a hooker...

Krystina's Bday

Friday 30 May 2008

It was Krystina's birthday and I didn't go because I didn't want to see my stupid roomate Eric and the other bitches. It was going to be too awkward...Krystina and me were not close friends at that time, but I still bought her some cute stuff at the Chinese walmart and she came over to my dorm to give me some cakes and I wasn't there so she waited for me...She's so cute =)

So we decided to celebrate her birthday again, but just her, me, Kevin and Stephanie.

That was at a certain jazz bar near the West Lake.

That girl on the right is the "guangdong mui", some crazy lesbian chick, I think her name was Annie. At first she wanted me to save her from some pervert, so I did. Then she invited me to her table and started telling stuff like "You shouldn't be here, that place is not for you" "Come with me, I'll buy you a new cellphone" and all that crap. She probably thought I were a country girl. God...

Anji Bambootown

Tuesday 20 May 2008

That trip sucked because we were supposed to go to the Bamboo forest where they filmed the fight scene in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, but we ended up spending too much time on that mountain because our guide was kind of disorganized and the bamboo forest closed early...And just as usual, I was really sleepy because I went out the night before even though I knew I had to get up at 6 am, yeah that's me! I'm still sad because we missed the biggest bamboo forest of China, but if you wanna know what it looks like, just go watch that movie: Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

First of all, we went to that bamboo museum. As the name indicates, everything (or almost) inside is made of bamboo of over 300 different species. This is also the place where you can find the largest number of bamboo species in the world.

Bamboo beer made by Zhejiang University. Zhejiang pride!!!
We had some at the restaurant and it's sooo tasty compared to yucky buds and yucky molson.

I love China =)

Then, we headed to that place that I don't remember the name, but I liked it. It felt peaceful.

Anji Bamboo Forest

Anji Bamboo Forest

Anji is a small county isolated until recently it started building highways to some of the other cities in Zhejiang province. Although it is a small place, it still attracts millions of tourists per year for their pure water and fresh air which is pretty rare in China.

Kevin was taking too many pictures of me...

We decided to take a group picture, so here's everyone!

The air was so freshhhhh! It was good to be away from the city for a while. I've always wanted to move to the countryside. That would be soooo great!

There were lots and lots of butterflies so it was really beautiful....but that also meant that there were lots of caterpillars and you don't even know how much I HATE those nasty things! They were all over the places, some spots have so many that it looks like a green furry carpet...poor me!

Anji Bamboo Forest

That was the mountain we climbed. It's in the middle of the bamboo ocean (that's how locals call it).

That was on our way down

Anji Bamboo Forest

Did I mention that I walked XX km in only a pair of flip flops? I think I never sweated that much in my life. My body was so tired that my legs started shaking, so Kevin offered to give me piggyback ride on our way down but I didn't let him. Girls, if a guy is willing to do this when he's as tired as you are, it means you can always count on him. Your boyfriend ever did this for you? So are you jealous? Huh?

That was Anji~I liked it a lot even if I didn't see the bamboo forest.

Xitang: A watertown

Saturday 17 May 2008

Xitang is a ancient watertown in the county of Jiashan. It's an old town divided into 8 sections by 9 rivers. It's so different, just like a fairyland, it feels disconnected from all the trouble of the real world.

We have to take one of these boats to get into the watertown:
